O LAC promove, desde 2009, o PRALAC - Programa de Residências Artísticas do Laboratório de Actividades Criativas.
O PRALAC irá promover o desenvolvimento de projectos que estimulem a criação dentro das várias áreas artísticas. Pretende-se atrair para o espaço do LAC propostas que evidenciem abordagens contemporâneas, que estabeleçam conexões com a cidade onde o LAC se encontra, promovendo o intercâmbio com outras realidades, entre cruzando experiências de criadores de diversas origens, que venham a desenvolver projectos artísticos, de qualquer género, individuais ou colectivos, cujas necessidades de espaço se compatibilizem com as disponibilidades oferecidas.
Estão abertas as candidaturas para o Programa de Residências Artísticas do LAC – projectos de curta duração: este programa visa a cedência de celas para o desenvolvimento de propostas de artistas de diferentes áreas de actuação, fomentando o intercâmbio de ideias entre os artistas locais e os artistas visitantes.
As residências artísticas terão o período mínimo de 4 semanas e máximo de 12, dependendo das necessidades de cada projecto.

O LAC é uma estrutura apoiada pela Presidência do Conselho de Ministros e Direcção Geral das Artes.
O LAC – Laboratório de Actividades Criativas é uma associação cultural sem fins lucrativos formada em 1995 e com sede na Antiga Cadeia de Lagos. O edifício projectado por Cottinelli Telmo e cujos alicerces estão edificados sobre um antigo convento, é um local com história fazendo parte integrante da cidade. Construído com outros objectivos, revela actualmente uma dicotomia interessante entre prisão / reclusão VS espaço de criatividade / liberdade; ao tornar-se espaço de criação reconverteu assim os moldes da sua existência, agora as celas são espaço de ateliê para artistas e a sua utilização e trabalho contribui para a revitalização do edifício, dotando-o de uma nova história. A associação é um espaço de residências artísticas com 13 anos de existência que tem como prioridade desenvolver e alargar o PRALAC – Programa de Residências Artísticas no LAC, com o objectivo principal de dinamizar e promover a criação artística na região e especialmente na zona do Sudoeste Algarvio.
PRALAC - The LAC Artist-in-Residence Program - Short Term Projects (2nd Fase)

Since 2009, LAC promotes the PRALAC - the LAC artist-in-residence program.
PRALAC will be promoting the development of projects that stimulate creative production within diverse artistic areas. The intention is to attract to the LAC space; proposals that demonstrate contemporary approaches, that establish connections to the town where LAC is located thus promoting an exchange with alternative artistic realities and inter-linking the experiences of artists from diverse backgrounds who come to develop artistic projects of any genre, be they individually or collectively owned and whose space requirements will be compatible with that which is available.
The applications are open for the LAC artist-in-residence program – short-term projects: this program envisions the granting of cells for the development of artists´ proposals that coming from different areas of action will fuel an exchange of ideas between local and visiting artists.
The short-term artistic residencies will have a minimum duration of 4 weeks and a maximum duration of 12 weeks depending on the requirements of the Project.

The LAC is a non-profit-making cultural association, founded in 1995, based in the old prison in Lagos. The building, designed by Cotineli Telmo on the foundations of an old convent, is a historic location of great importance in the history of Lagos. Built for other purposes, today the building displays an interesting layout, accentuated by the stark contrast between the restriction represented by the prison walls vs. the freedom brought to these same walls when they were converted into a space to house creativity and independent expression. On becoming a creative space, the very foundations appear to have been remoulded. Now, the cells are used as workshop areas for the artists, whose work contributes to the revitalisation of the building, giving it a new story. The LAC Association comprises artistic residence and has been running for the last 13 years. Its priority is to expand the PRALAC programme, with the principal objective of utilizing and promoting artistic creativity in the region, particularly in the Southwest of the Algarve.
